Technical details
The translation editor's item_name parameter fails to sanitize directory traversal sequences (../) when constructing file write paths, and does not escape backslash characters in user input, allowing escape from PHP string literals. An authenticated user with UPDATE permissions on admin.configuration.language can chain these flaws to write executable PHP files to web-accessible directories and execute them server-side. The vulnerability requires valid administrator credentials and specific permission levels.
