Technical details

The vulnerability is an arbitrary file upload (CWE-434) in the document update endpoint. While the document upload endpoint implements file type validation, the update endpoint lacks the same checks, allowing an authenticated administrator to upload executable files such as PHP scripts. This results in remote code execution with web server privileges; no bypass of authentication is required.
