Junglewise in Slack
Add Junglewise to your Slack workspace and it posts what matters to a channel you pick: threats that affect you, pen test results and a weekly digest. Anyone in a channel you invite it to can @mention it to ask about a threat, your security posture or a pen test, and bring in one of our security engineers when they want a person. It only reads the messages that mention it.
Add to Slack. Reads only messages that mention it. About 3 min to set up.
Connecting Slack
How you connect it
- Step 1
In Junglewise, an owner or admin clicks Add to Slack on the Slack page. Slack shows every permission the app asks for before you allow it.
- Step 2
Pick the channel for updates. Junglewise joins a public channel on its own; for a private one, type /invite @Junglewise in that channel first.
- Step 3
Choose what it posts: threats at or above the risk level you set, pen test results, and when the weekly digest arrives. Send a test message to check. Setup takes a few minutes.
What Junglewise reads
Only what it needs
Messages that mention it
When someone writes @Junglewise, it reads that message and answers in the thread. It cannot read channel history or messages that do not mention it.
Channel names
So you can pick where updates go. It joins only the channel you choose, and any you invite it to.
Who is asking
The name of the person who mentions it, so the answer, and any confirmation, is addressed to them.
What it does in Slack
Posts, answers, and asks first
Posts updates
Threats that affect you, at or above the risk level you set; pen test reports, and findings fixed or back again; and a weekly digest on the day and hour you choose.
Answers questions
About a threat, your posture or a pen test, in the thread where it was asked, with a link into Junglewise for the detail.
Acts only after a Confirm click
When the answer means changing something, such as closing a threat, it says what it will do and shows Confirm and Cancel buttons. Only the person who asked can confirm.
Brings in an engineer
Ask for a person and, once you confirm, one of our security engineers picks up the conversation and replies in the same thread.
Nothing changes from Slack without a Confirm click from the person who asked. Looking things up and answering need no click.
Slack questions
- Who can talk to it?
- Anyone in a channel it has been invited to can @mention it, so invite it only where everyone may see your security picture. It does not take direct messages. Only an owner or admin in Junglewise can connect it, change what it posts or disconnect it.
- Does it read our conversations?
- No. Slack sends it only the messages that @mention it. To follow up in a thread, mention it again.
- Does it use credits?
- Answers use credits, as the chat in the app does; posting updates does not. An hourly limit on questions and a daily credit cap for Slack keep a busy channel from using up your plan. Engineer time is metered against your credits, which is why it asks you to confirm first.
- Can we connect more than one Slack workspace?
- One Slack workspace per Junglewise organization, and a Slack workspace can be connected to one organization.
- How do I disconnect?
- Click Disconnect on the Slack page in Junglewise, or remove the app from your Slack workspace. Junglewise stops posting and loses access immediately.
