CVE-2026-97819 · Severity: medium · CVSS 6.5 · Published 2026-10-13

Windows DNS Server, which resolves domain names for corporate networks and systems, contains an out-of-bounds read vulnerability that allows an authenticated attacker to leak sensitive information from server memory. An attacker with valid network credentials could exploit this to gather confidential data from the DNS infrastructure.

## Technical details

An out-of-bounds read in the Windows DNS Server component allows an authenticated network attacker to read memory contents beyond allocated buffer boundaries. The vulnerability requires valid credentials or authorization to trigger, and successful exploitation results in information disclosure of data present in the DNS server's memory.
