Technical details
A race condition (CWE-362) and out-of-bounds read (CWE-125) exist in the Windows USB Print Driver due to improper synchronization when accessing shared resources. An attacker with local access and low privileges can exploit this vulnerability by timing specific requests to the driver. Successful exploitation allows the attacker to execute code with elevated privileges, potentially gaining SYSTEM-level access. Microsoft has released security updates to address this issue across affected versions of Windows 11 and Windows Server 2025.
