Executive brief
A memory handling vulnerability in macOS could allow a remote attacker to crash a computer or corrupt sensitive system memory. This affects the core operating system used on Apple laptops and desktops. If exploited, it could lead to a complete system failure or allow an attacker to gain deeper access to the machine's kernel.
Technical details
A memory corruption vulnerability exists in the macOS kernel due to improper memory handling. A remote attacker can exploit this flaw to cause a denial-of-service (system termination) or potentially achieve arbitrary code execution with kernel privileges by corrupting kernel memory. The issue was addressed by improving memory management logic. Patches are available in macOS Sequoia 15.7.8, macOS Sonoma 14.8.8, and macOS Tahoe 26.6.
