CVE-2026-120248 · Severity: medium · CVSS 4.8 · Published 2026-11-01

Thelia is an open-source e-commerce platform that manages online stores. An authenticated administrator with store update permissions can upload SVG image files (logos or banners) containing malicious scripts, which are then executed in the browsers of site visitors and other administrators. This allows attackers to steal session tokens, change configurations, or perform unauthorized actions on behalf of victims.

## How to fix

- Fixed in Thelia 3.1.1

Restrict store update permissions to trusted administrators only, and avoid uploading SVG images as store logos or banners until upgrading to the patched version.

## Technical details

The vulnerability is a stored XSS flaw in the store configuration controller's media upload handler for logo_file and banner_file parameters. SVG files are not sanitized before being stored and served from /admin/store-media/logo or the public cache/images/store/ directory, allowing embedded JavaScript payloads (such as onload handlers) to execute. Exploitation requires prior authentication with store update permissions.

## Affected products

- Thelia Thelia before 3.1.1
