Executive brief
WSO2's Carbon Console is the administrative interface used to manage identity and API gateway products. A flaw in input validation allows authenticated administrators to inject and execute arbitrary code on the server, enabling complete system compromise without requiring additional user interaction or network-based attack vectors.
Technical details
This vulnerability is a remote code execution (RCE) flaw stemming from improper input validation in administrative operations exposed through the Carbon Console management interface. The vulnerability requires administrative privileges and direct console access; unauthenticated attackers cannot exploit it. A malicious administrator can inject arbitrary code through specific administrative operations and achieve code execution with full system compromise. Patches are available through WSO2 Updates for support subscribers, and community users can apply fixes from the public GitHub repository (https://github.com/wso2/product-is/pull/26281).
